We know what you’re thinking…didn’t we JUST have an election last year…and the year before that?!
Yes, my tapped in beautiful babies, we did. And we [lord willing] will keep on having these so it’s important you know what they are all about, why we have all of these, and do you really need to vote every time. (YES.).
First, what is a primary?
Well, like Joey Cade explains above, it’s our chance to choose our fighters for the actual Midterm election this fall. So if you ever said out lout “who picked this person?” or “I didn’t pick this person to be our nominee…” this is the time you actually have a say. Didn’t want Biden to be the nominee in 2020? You should have said something during the primaries.
While we are a Texas based podcast / newsletter / election source, we do not only watch or care about Texas.
Texas is currently in the middle of their primary election but we’re not the only ones.
Okay, so what’s on your ballot?

Now, forgive us while we focus on Texas for a second
You may have heard about our Senate Primary going on here…it’s….a mess.2
We have two people running to be our nominee.3
We here at Get Pod Local are voting for Jasmine Crockett.
They are both nice, kind, caring people who love Texas, but only one has the experience we need in DC.
Now, we understand why folks would want to vote for James Talerico instead…and their feelings are valid.
BUT —
Remember how you guys said loudly after 2024 that you should listen to Black women?
How about when you said listen to Black people?
How about women?
Listen, again, we get why you would want to vote for James…We were leaning towards him before Jasmine joined the race.
But there are too many red flags for us to ignore.

Never mind who’s tone you prefer.
We’re looking for the best person who can win in an election against the incumbent do nothing John Cornyn or the should be in prison Ken Paxton?

Anyways, we hope you guys go vote during the primaries. And no matter what state you are in, please look deeper into the candidates than what they just tell you on a couch in New York. Look at their voting record — more than just what influencers tell you about their voting records.
See how they move when they work — or when they don’t think people are watching.
Anyways, In Senate Democratic primary fraught with racial tensions, Black voters could be decisive — and if that’s the case, when we have our nominee, I need Dems to fall in line and help us flip Texas.
And Joey and I already know who we want.
Like we said, we care about all elections here, so make sure you tap in.
Because if we get a safe majority in the House AND the Senate…
And that….is something we all can get behind, right?
