Joey My heart feels broken. Due to where we are on the timeline. There are threats coming from all angles. We had a constable friend reach out to ask us not to have protests this weekend because they're hearing of threats. And that's why young Dems have to reschedule their event next week.

Jalon I saw that. I was so not shocked but still very shocked that HBCU’s were the automatic retaliation targets. SMH
Joey It sucks rn because we don't want to back down because of threats. That's why they make them. To stop us from organizing. But people don't want to be shot at and since we've already had conservatives showing up the cops want us to take a week off. We're getting together privately so we're not stymied from our organizing work. But I'm not feeling the fight back I feel like we need rn and that's scary

Jalon They are so unhinged that to expect them to not to retaliate wherever they feel they can would be negligent. You gotta survive to keep fighting. One weekend off is okay.

Jalon I'm not sure how all the Black African ancestors knew to tell us to stay the hell outta this last November right after the elections -- but I'm thankful. They are trying to rile us up so they have a reason to jail a bunch of Black people. It's so obvious now.

Joey Our visibility is being curtailed for a week or so. But the work goes on. We're meeting Saturday to GSD. ✊🏻 We're hosting a postcard party or 2 before Oct 13 when we need all cards in the mail to tell Cali voters to vote YES on Prop 50. Plus text & phone banking and finding volunteer notaries to help DCDP with candidate filings from Oct 8 - Dec 8. Gotta keep up the fight or we're fucked. We're not going to let anything about Charlie Kirk get in our way. It certainly feels like dark days though. I'm trying to stay focused on the wisdom of my friend Jalon 😆 who always reminds us that we have to keep prioritizing joy to sustain, too. So we're planning stuff that's fun and focusing on community
